From the Director

The Engineering IT website has come a long way since its initial launch on January 9, 2012. There is now a full outline of available services, in-depth user guides for those services, and the web pages for our instructional lab environment are now part of the site.  The “announcements“ and “service status” sections on the home page are now regularly updated with information regarding our services.

We are now in the process of filling the gaps.  The outline of services is available, but many of their descriptions are in the process of being written.  Documentation for additional services is being prepared.  The available documentation is being edited to make it clearer and easier to use.  We’re working to add additional information intended to assist the Engineering at Illinois community of over 1,100 faculty and staff and almost 10,000 students that require IT services.

Engineering IT the organization continues to develop as well.  One of our achievements in the past year was the implementation of a unified ticket system, designed to assist us with ensuring that all reported issues are handled in a timely and effective manner.  We are now averaging over 2,500 tickets per month with our 30,000th ticket being received on January 24, 2013.

This website, and Engineering IT as a whole, really belongs to the faculty, students and staff of Engineering at Illinois, as well as all others who use the services provided by Engineering IT. We need to hear from you regarding what information you need available online. What isn't here yet that you would like prioritized? What is here that you find to be incomplete or not clear?
