Research Group Support
Overview
Engineering IT has a dedicated User Services Research team specifically trained and focused to provide technical support to the College of Engineering research mission. Engineering research groups can benefit from IT professionals with diverse technical skills and backgrounds to provide full tier support needs. User Services Research IT professionals are aware of lab safety procedures and sensitivity of data when working in research environments.
Available To
This service is available to all College of Engineering research departments, faculty research groups, and research centers. This includes all faculty, staff, and students employed by these entities unless otherwise specified in the service agreement.
If your research group is not currently contracted for full service, you may be still be eligible for service. Please visit the Engineering IT Helpdesk for information and eligibility to your department.
Features
Research groups with User Services Research contracts will receive:
- Full technical support on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating system
- Consultation on hardware and software purchases
- Purchasing, deployment, and maintenance of hardware
- Purchasing and installation of software
- 10GB amount of backed up file storage space for home folders and data
- Assistance connecting with further services (research storage, compute clustering, etc)
- Most other technical support needs not covered above
Rates
Contract pricing for College of Engineering research groups or to individual faculty is based on an FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) count. Support charges for FY2012 are $951 per FTE to be supported.
