Unit Guides and Services
Engineering IT professionals provide technical support to resolve issues and help make informed decisions. We can provide assistance with setting up secure accounts, guest accounts and with enterprise data access through your Unit Security Contact. Engineering IT also manages the electronic door lock (E-lock) service for Siebel Center.
Engineering IT is responsible for supporting College of Engineering users of Unified Communications, including email, calendaring, voice (phone), and other collaboration features like chat and screen sharing. We also offer tools for user collaboration like the Engineering wiki and version control services for software code.
The Engineering WorkStation (EWS) labs currently include over 1,200 workstations and serve over 19,000 students taking Engineering courses. EWS provides high performance, highly reliable instructional computing environment for the students and faculty of the College of Engineering.
Engineering IT’s staff of technical professionals can provide a range of robust IT infrastructure services to meet the needs of the College. Engineering IT provides data storage services for all faculty, staff and students within the College of Engineering.
Engineering IT offers consultation on hardware and software purchases, and assistance with software licensing for Engineering applications. Our desktop replacement program provides a modern and consistent desktop experience for all administrative staff in the College. Engineering IT is also responsible for secure and efficient decommissioning of computing equipment that is no longer used.
Engineering IT provides a variety of IT services for instruction. In addition to our world-class instructional computer labs for Engineering education, we also offer remote computing sessions for students, and lecture capture for digital distribution. Engineering IT can also connect you with a variety of Learning Management Systems for hosting courses and online learning.
Engineering IT’s multimedia and educational technology group provides advanced services for audiovisual and multimedia technology. Engineering IT can provide advice and support on classroom and conference room technology, including advanced videoconferencing systems. Engineering IT staff are also responsible for lecture and presentation capture and distribution for online and blended learning or for special events. We can also provide hardware design and content distribution for digital signage.
Engineering IT is responsible for assisting with and ensuring network connectivity throughout Engineering at Illinois facilities and for supported Engineering users in non-Engineering facilities. Engineering IT serves as the first point of contact for network connection requests and issues.
The Engineering Portal Framework hosts a variety of handcrafted web applications used widely in the College of Engineering and other units on the Illinois campus. These web applications support, streamline and generally facilitate an array of business processes relating to finance, human resources and academics.
Engineering IT provides assistance with the management of DNS, IP address assignment, wired and wireless network connectivity, and VPN as they pertain to Engineering users.
